Magic Slider card - I (w/o Staz-On)

Hello everyone,

It is the end of another great year...
With this I would like to share with you a card for welcoming the new year...2015...
We are celebrating this New Year's eve at a friend's place. So I thought I would give a card to each family...

This is one of the best interactive cards...the Magic Slider card. I found the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers

But all the tutorials I have seen so far use Staz-On and I don't have it. So I came up with another idea.

First, I printed out the Celebration Cake digi from DIGISTAMPS4JOY. Then I attached the printout and acetate with some office pins. Now, I drew the cake on the acetate with a OHP Marker
This will work for simple and less intricate designs as the marker tip is a bit thick. But this is a good substitute if you don't want to invest in Staz-On.

Now for the interactive part...
When you pull the tab on the top...the picture slides and reveals colours...The picture gets coloured magically ;)

This is what it looks like when it is completely pulled up...I love chocolate flavoured cake...so I coloured the cake in different shades of brown...

Embellishments:For decorating the card, I cut out the numbers 2,0,1,5 from 4 different pattern papers and glued them on one side of the frame.
For the other side, I took an embroidery thread and coloured it with golden acrylic colour and glued it in a pattern...
I attached a circle pull tab (from another pattern paper) and ribbon on the top with a green brad...

and finally, Wish you all a very Happy New Year!!! Hope your new year is filled with happiness!!!

Side Step Card

Hello everyone,

A quick post for a quick card...

I made this card for my mother-in-law's birthday recently.
I made this card in a hurry...so forgive me for the pics...

We took a very good family picture this Diwali...and I really wanted to incorporate it in my card. I also wanted it to be the focus of the card...

Some more pics of the card:

A better look at the folds and steps:

I used 3 different pattern papers for the 3 steps and wrote the sentiment with a black marker

Inspiration times 2

Hello crafters,

I recently took part in Indira's Mega Celebration Event challenge...
As part of the challenge we had to create a card inspired from Indian motifs and post the card to the person above us in the linky...
I was very lucky to receive a card from Deepti Stephens from Catchy Design...
So I just wanted to share this beautiful card U received from Deepti...

Isnt it gorgeous!!!

It is an awesome example of "In Simplicity Lies Beauty"

There was another entry in the challenge...which was from Suman Pandit
I was inspired by her intricate Mandala design...
And I just had to give it a try...

So this is what I came up with... :)

This is nowhere near Suman's colourful and beautiful design...
I am not even sure if it qualifies for a Mandala design...but I sure had fun drawing it

A closer look at the design

And as always...I would love to hear your comments and thought about the post

In addition, I would also love to hear what you think will be the best product to colour this design...gel pens...colour pencils...glaze pens...???

Gift Tags

Hello everyone,

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone...

When there is a time crunch, gift tags are one the best ways to pour out your creativity...

I made 2 gift tags yesterday...
It hardly took me 10 mins to make each tag...

As part of the Christmas fun, we had Secret Santa arranged by the HR department in my office.

We had to pick up a chit and get a gift for the colleague whose name was in the chit.

I was short on time...so I couldn't make a handmade gift...which I would have loved to do...

So I bought a gift...but I realized I had time to make a gift tag...

I made this gift tag to go with the gift...

These are the supplies I used:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After I made the first tag, I was tempted to make another one...just for fun :)..

And these the supplies I used for the second tag

The bird stamp set, the background stencil , the rose stencil and the distress inks are all new in my collection.
So I am always looking for a chance to use them...

What do you all think about the tags?

I would love to hear your comments and thoughts...

Henna Design Card

Hello crafters,

I have been doodling henna designs on the pages of my notebooks since my childhood days...
I love Mehendi (Henna) designs...especially the Paisleys...

I used an art journal page I made as the background paper...
I drew the henna design on a corner of the page with a Pigma Micron tip pen.

Then I mounted the piece on white watercolour paper which  then mounted on the card base. The base was coloured with Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks

The Henna Design was inspired by Arty Sorts Indian Motifs challenge

I loved the asymmetry of the sketch on the sweetest thing challenge blog...

Whereas the colours were inspired my the Runway Inspired challenge for this week

Here is another look at the card...

Update: I also made an envelope to go along with the card
Here's a look at the matching envelope:

Making your own background/pattern paper is a lot of fun...so entering this card in the following challenges as well:

This was a quick card to do...a piece of an art journal page...some doodling...some distressing and the card was ready...so entering it in Speed Craft challenge

Anniversay Special Fold card - II

Hello everyone,

This is the second card I made for my husband for our marriage anniversary...

It is a special fold...

I love Zentangle...so I added some zentangle patterns with White Gel pen on the front of the card...

When you open the card...the folds of the card are revealed...
I attached some black damask pattern paper on alternate panels...and wrote a message on one of the panels...

The card has a back panel...where you can add more design and messages...
I added the zentangle pattern on the front here too...

One more view of the folds and patterns on the card

I love how the white gel pen looks on the dark chocolate card base...
The cardstock itself is a dark chocolate colour...

Anniversary Interactive Card - I

Hello everyone,

Last weekend was a very good one for me...I got to make a lot of cards...

I also made 2 cards for my hubby for our 2nd marriage anniversary...
My husband loves interactive cards...

The first one is a Matchbox popup card...

The card is basically a box/drawer...it looks like a box containing assorted chocolates...yumm... ;)

When you open the box (like a drawer)....TADA....Little pretty things popup from the box...

I didn't want to clutter it...so I added very few things...
I bird on the branch is a stamp from Hampton Art...
I cut out and distressed our Initials...
Then I wrote Happily Married with a Pigma Micron Tip Pen and did some fancy cutting :D
I added a heart on the last panel...

Hope you guys like the cards...

Teabag Shaker card

Hello crafters,

Today I am here with a card for a very special person...my dear MOM...

My mom loves her tea..
So I made this card with the theme as tea...

I drew the tea-cups and cut them out of pattern paper...

Added a quirky message "TEA-RRIFIC" ;)
But the card felt incomplete...

So I added a tea-bag...I imitated a real tea-bag...

I made the tea-bag using some packing material (I don't know what material it is...I found it in all the junk I collect ;) )
I filled it with some sequins and stars...

It is a shaker tea-bag. When you shake the card...the contents of the tea-bag shake... :D

Isn't it cool...

Here's another look at the card:

The inside of this card is a surprise...I will showcase it another post later...

Tulip Card

Hello everyone,

I have been smitten by the CAS style of card-making lately...

It is hard for me to avoid adding layers or elements to the card...
So making a CAS card is kind of a challenge for me...but at the same time it helps me push myself to do and learn a new style...
The idea for this card just came to my mind out of nowhere...

I have coloured the stripes in shades of Turquoise, Purple and Pink with distress inks.
I used Postits for masking...

Then I drew the outline of the tulips from a stencil and coloured the tulips in white using Sakura White Marker and White gel pen...added the sentiment as well with White gel pen...And the card was done...

What do you think about the card???

Orange Birthday

Hello crafters,

Here today with a very simple card...

I bought this stencil recently and was very eager to use it...

I used Wild Honey Distress Ink on the stencil and attached the two pieces on a card stock...

I made 2 versions of the card...

In the first one I coloured the card base with the distress ink to blend with the panels...

For the second one, I kept the card base as is...

Here a closer look at the panels...

Which version do you think looks better???

Moving Blinds Parisian Card

Hello everyone,

Today I am here with a very pretty interactive card. I made it for a good friend yesterday.
I just love giving interactive cards to my friends and family.

I found 2 beautiful pattern papers in my local craft store...I felt that they looked very Parisian...Aren't they lovely

Now, about the interactive part of the card...When you pull the two ends of the ribbon on top of the blinds....

Tada...It reveals a window with picture and a message...

A closer look at the window...

And I added a part of the pattern paper on one side of the inside of the card...

Another look at the pretty card :D
