Another Paper Tole card

Hello everyone,

I love the variety of themes in the challenges...sketches...colours...techniques...occasions...
It provides us with so many ideas to mix and match and create something new...

I was very happy to see the technique challenge at Mod Squad...its Paper Tole...
Having posted a tutorial for the same a week back...I was already equipped for this challenge... :D

I was inspired by this cool sketch at Stamplorations...

So...on to the card I made...

Casology has a monochrome challenge...so I have used neutrals and just one colour...Worn-Lipstick DI

I have used the script stamp from my new Bo Bunny "Its Written" stamp set...to cover the white panel...

Added Distress ink coloured side-border to the script panel...

Mounted the whole thing on kraft card base...

I glued the paper tole rose(coloured with DI) on the script panel and attached a flag label(coloured with DI and spritzed with water)...

And finally stamped the sentiment on the flag...so tagging along in the Whimsy Stamps challenge...

I wanted to keep the card clean and simple...so I didn't add any embellishments...

Valentine Card

Hi,

My second post for the day...as I was saying...just can't stop making Valentine cards...
For this card, I tried out a few new things...a different type of layout...first time using Washi tape...and also the colour combination

I cut-out panels of brown and grey cardstock and left a gap in between where I stuck the Washi tape.
Fuzzy-cut the rose and coloured it in Worn Lipstick DI...

The first flag label I coloured a piece of white cardstock with Worn Lipstick DI and spritzed it with water and stamped the sentiment in Archival Black Ink. This was mounted on a grey and white flag label.
The second flag label is a piece of washi tape pasted on a peice of white paper.

To finish off the card, I drew a border with white gel pen. I also higlighted the panels with white gel pen

Paper Tole Rose (Tutorial)

Hello everyone,

It been almost 2 weeks since my last post...whoa!!!
I had a lot of my ideas in mind...but I was too exhausted to actually make them into cards...
So I decided to take some rest...some time off...

But now I am back...and I have a new technique (new for me) and a tutorial...
I saw this technique on Stamplorations once...its called Paper Tole...
It is a way to make prints appear 3-D...works best with flowers...

So hop on for a tutorial...

The first step is to take many prints of the same image in the same size...
The no. of prints you will need will be equal to the no. of layers you want...
I went with 4...

Next you will have to colour in all the images...I coloured mine in Work Lipstick DI...

The next step is to decide the layers...what portion of the image do you want on a layer...

In case of flowers...just start eliminating layers of petals...

eg: for the 2nd layer...eliminate the outermost layer of petals...

Next step is to attach foam tape to each layer...leave some space around the edges of the layers...I will tell you why in a moment

Now start assembling the layers...starting with largest image at the bottom...

Be sure to align the layers perfectly...

And Tada...your 3-D rose is ready

Now you can curl up some petals...to give it a more 3-D look...and that is why I left some space around the foam tape...

Now that this was done...I thought of trying some more new things for my card....

I have never used corrugated cardboard and wire on my card...and they both seem to be very much in trend right now...So I gave it a go

I added a handwritten sentiment below the corrugated cardboard,wire, rose assembly with white Sakura marker...

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out...

I think it works great as a valentine card without hearts. The cardboard and wire give it a masculine feel...

oooh...a few more things...

I added some distress ink to the area where I wrote the sentiment...just to kind of...outline it...

Also the corrugated cardboard is from some cardboard box that was at home...

Whew...now that was a big post...

Hello everyone,

I am back with another CAS card...
I always try to learn new techniques...but some techniques need new supplies...and sometimes you just cant invest in something...
And then there are frugal ways to recreate the technique...
So I set off to try making and using the homemade version of modelling paste(I love experimenting)...
I found many recipes with the following ingredients:
Acrylic paint
Baby Powder
Glue

I used my rose stencil and used a business card to swipe it through my stencil...It looked beautiful...
But after it dried...it looked translucent...I think it was because my quantity of powder was more....I will add more paint next time...
But the translucency gave it a very beautiful effect as the background stencil and colours were visible through the rose...

 Now, for the background I used a Hampton Art stencil and some distress inks...
I think this is the first time I have used 2 stencils on a single card :)
I also added a stitched border to it. I used some pink embroidery thread for the stitching....
The sentiment is handwritten with a white gel pen.

The card depicts the view through the grills of my window of the lovely shrubs of roses in the garden!

Black and Gold Card

Hello crafters,

There are some colour combinations that are just awesome no matter what...one such combination is Black and Gold...
And when black and gold are the ingredients...why not add some roses and red in the mix :D

I started out by making an outline of the roses with a gold gel pen on a black cardstock. I have used a rose stencil stencil for this.
Once the outline was done...I painted the flowers and leaves with my new golden acrylic colour (I am not a good painter so I hardly own any paints )...

Next I propped this piece on a red cardstock which was put on a gold cardstock...
The golden paper is actually a part of a wedding invitation.
Then I mounted the whole thing on the card base...

Here is a closer look at the golden roses and paper...
(I had a hard time capturing the golden colour)

I didn't add any sentiment as I don't know what occasion I want to associate it with...
It can be a Valentine/Date card or an Anniversary Card or even a Birthday card...but it surely does give a romantic vibe to me :)
